Resolutions Communique #12

Greetings,
Thought I’d send a ‘mini’ to share the good news in case you missed it!

In communique #9 you may recall that at the request of the Secretary of State, Hon Jason Kenny, League members were asked to write letters to MLA’s in support of Bill C-484 An Act To Amend The Criminal Code injuring or causing the death of an unborn child while committing an offence, a private members’ bill sponsored by MP Ken Epp.

Well the good news is that in an update from United Mothers, Fathers & Friends just received states the bill passed the 2nd reading by a narrow margin on March 5th therefore is still alive! Now the bill moves on to Justice Minister and Human rights Committee and finally if the bill returns to the house it will face 3rd and final reading which hopefully will happen before summer recess. Please continue to pray for the success of this important bill.

A few questions have arisen in relations to new guidelines for resolutions and hopefully they’ve all been ‘ironed out’. Remember to make sure your diocesan resolutions committee has an up to date check list. Any questions please get in touch with me.

May your be filled with the joy of Easter.

Your League Sister,

Sheila

Dear League Sisters and Father Terry,

I hope you have all had a good Lent and I pray that this Holy Week will be particularly prayerful for you. It is such a hopeful time of year with the longer, lighter days and Easter’s promise upon us!

But first, special congratulations to the Nelson Diocese on the appointment of their new Bishop, John Corriveau, ofm. This will be an exciting time for your diocese and for Bishop Corriveau too as he begins to see how wonderful the CWL is! Bishop Cooney is in our prayers too for his many years of support and service. » Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings,

Now that clocks have sprung forward next comes March 20th which heralds the first day of Spring, a time of spiritual awakening, a time of new life, trees blossoming, flowers starting to bloom, baby goats and little lambs frolicking around and hopefully sunshine and warmth.

Spring is also the time we think, plan and look forward to our diocesan conventions, a time of learning, sharing and meeting new and longtime League sisters…

Congratulations and thanks to the six diocesan resolutions chairs for their annual reports!

Exciting news – to date two dioceses are currently working on several proposed resolutions, a combined total of eleven. » Read the rest of this entry »

61st BCYK CWL Convention!

Conventions, Provincial 2008 No Comments »

YOU’RE INVITED – WE’RE DELIGHTED

Catholic Women’s League members from throughout the KAMLOOPS DIOCESAN COUNCIL extend an open “INVITATION” to all League Members to attend the 61st Annual CWL Provincial Convention May 29, 30, 31 and June 1, 2008 at WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C.

Conventions are the highlight of the CWL annual calendar to many members. It is a time of spiritual growth, communication, affirmation, mentoring, enrichment and motivation.

Conventions are the best tool we have as League members to promote the aforementioned sources of growth and to plant new seeds to be nurtured in the future. Come and join us and renew old friendships and meet new League members.

We would like to extend a special invitation to those who have never attended a Provincial Convention to come and experience the love, friendship and knowledge of your CWL sisters. You will be amazed at the “warm fuzzies” you will take home with you.

Until it is lit – a candle can not produce light in the night.
The more candles that are lit – the brighter that light.

What we ask of you is your light and your time,
Come join us in Williams Lake -
“Let’s make C.W.L. SHINE”
